WELCOME

I'm Emma, a Surrey-based writer, author of Life As It Is and mum to two girls who constantly challenge and delight.

Life As It Is began in 2012 as a bit of fun and a record for me to look back on, but quickly hoped to strike a chord with others by sharing frank, emotive, fun and thought-provoking tales, as well as spreading the smiles that only living with daughters can bring.

But it's not simply about being a mum (and what was once a fraught journey into motherhood). It's also about a life prior to babies and post babies; a life that was hijacked by Lyme Disease, and the reflections and dreams that carry one through.

In my day job I'm a writer and producer. I've specialised in lifestyle features and travel tales. Currently, I'm responsible for putting the audio version of Tesco magazine online. In my free time, I love writing stories for children. Previously, I was Shopping Editor for Tempus Magazine and blog writer for Eden Private Staff.

I've written for numerous parenting titles as well as Tesco Magazine and The Independent. I've also been published in National Geographic Traveller when I won a competition for my piece on trekking gorillas in Uganda.
