Can't concentrate? I try an in-house experiment (1)

Those of you that read my blog regularly, will know that I've recently carried out an in-house experiment with my teething 2yo, Sofia Faith. Together, we tested Naty nappies and Eco Rash Cream. These products impressed me greatly, to the point I'm now converted.

Thanks to Fia's teething, you'll also know that I've been sleep deprived. Recent worries brought about by Esme struggling at school, haven't helped that either!

My fidgety 5yo, Esme Grace, has a poor level of concentration. That's not news to me. But what is, is that it's now been flagged up by her teacher.

Esme's lack of concentration is doubly hindered by the fact that she is so easily distracted. She also has an incredible imagination, and Simon and I will often comment on the fact that she's in 'Esme world' again.

It all came to a head recently, when the teacher told Simon and I that when talking to the entire class on the carpet, and asking the different groups one by one to move on to set activities, Esme remained alone on the mat, completely zoned out

So wondering if there was anything I could do to help my struggling 5yo, I thought I'd give omega oil a whirl.

We've all heard about the many benefits of omega oil as far as good fats and the brain, but the new research that has been carried out, shows that it is realistically proven to help children concentrate.

I find this fascinating, and am currently planning a feature to cover this topic. But of course, I can't be sure, until I see if it really does work. So who better a guinea pig, than my distracted 5yo?

And so Esme is giving it ago. (Not that she knows it!). We currently have a bottle of Udo's Choice sat in the fridge, a blend of omega 3,6 and 9 - and at the beginning of the month I began giving her one spoonful a day - mixed surreptitiously into yoghurt. (It doesn't taste great).

Udo's claim that after six weeks of taking it, we ought to see a difference in Esme's ability to concentrate. We are three weeks in… Not only am I waiting and watching, but I have also enlisted the help of Esme's teacher, to see if she notices a difference in class. Time will tell.

Wish us well and stay tuned to find out what happens in this, my fascinating second in-house experiment...

Ah thank you Vicky, here's hoping. She does seem to be responding and I can't wait to see how it goes over the next three weeks. ;-)

Hope it works, I used to drizzle Udo's Oil over fruit crumble to disguise the taste. Kind of sank into the crumble and the sharpness of the fruit cut through the oil. Makes it more palatable. #pocolo

Thanks for your comment. I'm wondering if you used Udo's for the same reason as me? And if so, did you see a change in your child/ren? BTW Great tip as far as fruit crumble. The taste of the oil does leave a lot to be desired.
