Do you know about this in-car safety & security device for parents?

A device dubbed ‘fred’, aimed at safeguarding children in the car and saving parents and mums-to-be money, has been launched by Zenith Insurance and is being offered exclusively through parenting brand, Bounty.

fred has been devised and developed by Zenith Insurance and is fitted by the driver to the inside of their car windscreen. In the event of an accident, it triggers automatic contact with a specially-trained team, who can talk to the driver, assess the situation and if required, put them through to the emergency services. For more minor incidents, parents can press the assistance button to connect to an advisor.
If used to report an incident or accident at the scene, fred insurance offers a zero excess, regardless of fault. Unlike telematics policies, fred does not monitor driving styles or behaviour and insurance premiums are a set price. The offering through Bounty also includes a breakdown service, covering the driver more than one than mile from home and for recovery to a garage up to 20 miles away. There’s also optional cover for prams or pushchairs with a replacement value of up to £1,000, rarely seen on standard car policies.
Natalie Johnson from Bounty said: “No one likes to think about having a car accident, least of all pregnant mums-to-be, or mums with travelling with young children. We know that for parents, safety is their key concern and this clever little device provides peace of mind on every journey and immediate help should the worst happen. As well as the safety aspect, fred insurance policies are competitively priced and with the added benefit of free breakdown cover and zero excess, will also appeal to those looking for value for money.  We think fred will prove to be very popular with many of our Bounty mums.”
